Frost Bite Series 3 – 11th December

A beautiful sunny morning with a wind about 12 mph from the SW. Dave I set a first beat down to 4, then 9p, 5s, 8p, 6s, 7s and back through the start line.

There were 13 starters including William upgrading to a Laser with a 4.7 rig. Rick and Mike A in Lasers managed to get themselves shut out at the first mark by trying to pinch the mark. They subsequently collided, which was Mike’s fault and he had to do penalty turns.
Karen (Laser) was first back through the start with Steve S (Aero 7) and Newton & Ellen (RS200) crossing the line almost together in 2nd and 3rd places.  Mark B (Laser) was slightly further back with Dave L and Ralph both in Lasers close behind Mark.  Then there was quite a gap back to Peter R (Enterprise) with another gap back to Adrian (Laser) who was being chased by the Lasers of Rod, Alistair S, Mike and Rick with William bringing up the rear.

At the end of the second lap there was no change in position amongst the first four boats, but Ralph had managed to get past Dave to move up to 5th. Adrian had passed Peter R to move up to 7th and Mike A and Rick had got past Alistair.

The third lap saw Steve S crossing the line in 1st place and Ralph had gained another place by passing Mark and moving to 4th.Mike A and Rod had a close encounter which resulted in Rod doing penalty turns and losing two places and Mike gaining a place! Rick also took advantage of this and managed to get past Rod as he was doing his penalty.

At the end of the fourth and last lap Karen had regained the lead and Newton & Ellen had moved back up to 2nd and Mark had repassed Ralph. Right at the end of the lap Mike A just managed to get past Peter R and Adrian to move up to 7th and Rod regained a place to move up to 8th.

The final places on the water were –
1st Karen; 2nd Newton & Ellen; 3rd Mark; 4th Steve S; 5th Ralph; 6th Dave L

On handicap the first three should not change but  Ralph should leapfrog Steve S.

Thanks to Dave I and the OOD Team of Franz, Richard M, Bill C, Billy I and  Stephen P and thanks to Ann L for manning the soup kitchen.
