Spring Series 9 – 6th June 2021

At last, we had a SW wind which made life a bit easier for the race team. Darren se the first beat to A (down near Tektona) then 9, 5 and B (just behind the start line heading towards7).

Pursuit Race

14 starters this morning and a light wind varying from 5 to 10 mph. It was good to see Roland S back on the water in his newly acquired Solo and to see that Rick & Lottie were persevering with their RS200.

At the end of the first lap Mike C (Solo) was leading from Chris H (Comet) being chased by Ralph (Laser) and Emily (4.7) was hanging in there in 4^th place. Unusually for the Pursuit race there were no dramatic changes in position throughout the rest of the race apart from Chris H heading towards the back of the fleet (which is also unusual!)

At the gun the final positions were – 1^st Mike C – Solo; 2^nd Ralph – Laser; 3^rd Newton & Sam – RS200; 4^th Dave & Ann – Leader; 5^th Mark – Laser; 6^th Karen – Radial

Handicap Race

This turned out to be a five lapper and Newton & Sam (RS200) were first back across the line closely followed by Karen (Radial), Dave & Ann (Leader) and Chris H (Comet).  Ralph (Laser)  was through 5^th place  with Mike C (Solo) 6^th and then the Lasers of Mike T and Chris K 7^th and 8^th just 10 seconds ahead of Roland S (Solo).  Rick & Lottie were not far behind Roland and then Mike A (Lightning), Aileen (Comet) and Emily (4.7) were bringing up the rear of the fleet.

On the second lap there was no change in the leading two, but Mike C had moved up to 3^rd and Ralph up to 4^th with no other movers.  There were only two changes in position on the third lap with Dave & Ann repassing Ralph for 4^th place and Mike A getting past Rick & Lottie.

By the end of the fourth lap Mike C had moved up another place to 2^nd by passing Karen. Ralph had repassed Dave & Ann in their continuing battle for 4^th place and Mike T passed Chris H to move up to 6^th spot.  Emily received the gun at the end of this lap.

On the last lap Newton & Sam retained their lead with Mike C still in 2^nd place, but Ralph had got past Karen to cross the line in 3^rd place and Dave & Ann were abreast of Karen in equal 4^th place . Further back Roland S pipped Chris K for 8^th place and Aileen had caught and passed Rick & Lottie.

The final order on the water was – 1^st Newton & Sam; 2^nd Mike C; 3^rd Ralph; 4^th Karen and Dave & Ann; 6^th Mike T.

On corrected time the order changes to 1^st Chris H; 2^nd Mike C; 3^rd Karen; 4^th Dave & Ann; 5^th Newton & Sam; 6^th Ralph.
