Youth, Junior and Oppie Sailors Race in Thames Valley Challenge

Saturday 6th June saw over 90 children racing in the Thames Valley Challenge hosted by Silver Wing Sailing Club. Among those were 10 of our Youth, Junior and Oppie Sailors.
The Thames Valley Challenge is a team racing event of six children in three Fevas per team and there were 14 teams competing.
A sunny, but blustery day saw 42 races sailed, and lots of capsizes.
Well done to Hadey and Kate, William and Thomas, Ben and Rhys whose Reading Team finished a very creditable 5th.
Well done also to Amy, Joe, Louis and Edward who combined forces with some children from Maidenhead Sailing Club to create the Redheads Team and finished 11th.
“Fun but scary at times” was the comment from our youngest sailor.
“Dad, Mum can we get a Feva XL” from two of them – they’ve been told to start saving their pocket money!
A great day was had by all the children and they did the club proud.
