The activities will be held between 11:00am to 15:30pm.
How to find us.
The club is located at Sonning Eye, clearly signposted just off the B478 Sonning road, to the north of Sonning and the River Thames. Access to the lake is by a gated private track.

Please park carefully and neatly in the car park just inside the gate unless directed otherwise by a marshal. Keep a sharp eye out for pedestrians and especially children.
Make your way to the clubhouse.
Events
On the water.
The Club will be offering trips around the lake in various sailing craft. Please arrange your sailing experience with a club member at the clubhouse. Depending on the conditions you may get a little wet, most likely your feet! Don’t worry we won’t be sailing in gale force winds.
Buoyancy aids and helmets (if requested) will be provided to all those who go afloat.
Here are our suggestions on clothing.
- A change of clothes and towel – we have hot showers and changing facilities.
- Suitable footwear – trainers, wet boots or similar but not loose fitting such as flip flops. Remember they will get wet! Do not plan to sail with bare feet. You may cut your feet as some dinghies have sharp fittings in the floor.
- Whatever the weather it is advisable to bring sun screen, a hat and sunglasses. We’re hoping for a lovely sunny day.
Static display
Several Club members no longer sail dinghies, but can’t tear themselves away from sailing. We have an active radio controlled model yachting section, which race the International One Metre and J Class yachts; examples you can inspect and try during the day. One or two build scale craft, which they have brought along to show.
Refreshments
We have a well equipped galley serving soft drinks, tea/coffee and sweets and a BBQ serving hot food at very reasonable prices.
Before you leave (membership)
After enjoying an inspiring day with us, you could decide to become a member of the Club. It is very straight forward and if you join on the day, you won’t have to pay the joining fee (£37.00). There will be someone in the clubhouse to answer any questions and help with form filling. More details on our membership page.
Sail training
If you have never sailed before or want a refresher course our fully approved RYA Training Centre will be able to sort you out. There are several pages, which you can read, starting here.
For children, we run a series of weekday late afternoon sessions during the summer in the Optimist (Oppie) dinghies. These are fun sessions where children can enjoy themselves and they can achieve the RYA stage one or two qualifications as well.
Karen will be running ‘Try Sailing Sessions’ for the younger children (12 and under) in four of the club Oppies
Goodbye and we hope to see you again
On behalf of all the Club members, we hope you have enjoyed your time with us and look forward to seeing you on the water.
