RSC Open Day/ RYA Push the Boat Out – Report and photos

A BIG thank you to all the club members who turned out on Saturday 12th May to help organise the club’s Open Day. We had some 60-80 people through the door and we had 14 fully paid up joiners on the day (a record) and there were more who expressed an interest in membership. 64 people went out on the water and several also signed up for training courses (but there are still some places left on the course at the end of May).

Karen and the Oppies received a lot of attention and she has managed to fill up her Oppie training for Monday nights.

The Model Yachters were also a great success with the youngsters and they were kindly letting them have a go.

The BBQ held up well so thanks to Mike Newlove and Dave Lomas who rebuilt it.

Anyway, whether you were helping out on the car parking, in the galley, by the BBQ, running taster sessions on the big boats or Oppies, showing off the model boats, taking training /membership bookings, or simply standing around talking to prospective members, we all helped show off the club to its very best. It was a great day and good to see so many members as well as visitors. We received a number of comments that the club was so friendly and vibrant. So thank you. A special thank you goes to Sally who made sure it (and we) all came together on the day.

The following day (Sunday) Monica and Sally were on Radio Berkshire being interviewed to promote sailing.

There was a write up in the Reading Chronicle on Thursday 17th May as we had Emma their photographer taking photos.
