{"id":593,"date":"2013-08-08T09:07:00","date_gmt":"2013-08-08T09:07:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.readingsc.org.uk\/members\/2013\/08\/08\/summer-8-3\/"},"modified":"2013-08-08T09:07:00","modified_gmt":"2013-08-08T09:07:00","slug":"summer-8-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.readingsc.org.uk\/members\/2013\/08\/08\/summer-8-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Summer 8"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Summer 8.<\/p>\n<p>Yet another sunny but windy day dawned  with Newton and his crew &#8211; only one<br \/>\n<br \/>person missing this time &#8211; setting an  interesting course, Xs, 4s, 5s, 9p,<br \/>\n<br \/>7p, 6p,S.<br \/>\n<br \/>There was the usual &#039;ummimg&#039; and  &#039;aaring&#039; about sail sizes, with Dave<br \/>\n<br \/>opting for a radial and Andy going for a  full rig.<br \/>\n<br \/>In the process of setting the best  possible course, Newton, in the process<br \/>\n<br \/>of dragging 2 out into more wind,  managed to lose it&#039;s anchor, naughty<br \/>\n<br \/>boy!&#8230;another job for the brothers to fix,  I suspect??!!<br \/>\n<br \/>Well the weather guys got it wrong again  with the wind strength more than<br \/>\n<br \/>was forecast &#8211; seeing 18 boats take to the  water but Monica and Eddie,<br \/>\n<br \/>didn&#039;t even get to the first mark, they wisely  decided this is not the wind for<br \/>\n<br \/>&#039;oldies&#039; to be on the water! Closely followed  to shore by young Jess and<br \/>\n<br \/>then Karen with her injured shoulder. But retirements  didn&#039;t stop there &#8211;<br \/>\n<br \/>Mike in his Solo and Curtis in his Laser retired before the  end of the race,<br \/>\n<br \/>leaving just 10 racers to finish the race. John in his Topaz  with his<br \/>\n<br \/>smaller sail did really well with only 1 capsize, Paul managed a couple  for<br \/>\n<br \/>everyone top see at bouy 6, losing a couple of places, while the rest just  flew<br \/>\n<br \/>around the course &#8211; another spectator day!<\/p>\n<p>Finishing places, 1st Andy, 2nd Dave,  3rd Ian<\/p>\n<p>Sent from my iPad<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Summer 8.
