Julian\nB set a fairly short course so the we could see more of everyone, whether\nthat\u2019s a good thing is a matter of opinion. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pursuit Race<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n This\nmorning there were 13 starters, one more than last week and that one was\nprobably Dave I, who turns out for a bit of fresh air when the weather is nice.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n A\nbit of a surprise this morning as Ron was caught by Ellen & Newton, but he\nwas 2nd<\/sup> and as usual Chris H was next in 3rd <\/sup>place with\nKaren a close 4th<\/sup>. The final order was-<\/p>\n\n\n\n 1st<\/sup>\nEllen & Newton (RS200); 2nd<\/sup> Ron (Mirror); 3rd<\/sup> Chris H\n(Comet); 4th<\/sup> Karen (Laser); 5th<\/sup> James (Laser); 6th <\/sup>Mike\nTr (Laser)<\/p>\n\n\n\n Handicap Race<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Dave\ndecided he\u2019d had enough fresh air and fun for one day, but he was replaced by\nJewels in her Mirror.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The\nsecond race was a four lapper and first back through the line was Newton & Ellen,\nwho obviously had their Weetabix this morning as they had pulled out a minute\non 2nd<\/sup> place man James, who in turn had 30 seconds over Ralph (Laser)\nin 3rd<\/sup> place. Chris H came through in 4th<\/sup> place, just ahead\nof a close group of boats led by Karen followed by the Lasers of Mark B,\nAlistair S and Mike Tr. The only Leader out today crossed the line next in 9th<\/sup>\nplace with Mike C & Sam on board, with Rick (Laser) just behind them. A minute later came the Mirrors of Jewels and\nRon followed by Cecilia (Radial).<\/p>\n\n\n\n There\nwas no change with the two leaders at the end of the second lap, but Mike Tr\nhad put the booster on and gained five places to move up to 3rd<\/sup> place.\nMike C & Sam made up two places and further back jewels was still ahead of\nthe old man. <\/p>\n\n\n\n On\nthe third lap the first four maintained station, but Karen passed Ralph to move\nup to 5th <\/sup>and Mark B moved up two places to 7th <\/sup>by getting\npast Alistair and Mike C & Sam. Further back Ron had just edged in front of\nJewels and Cecilia received the gun at the end of the lap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n At\nthe end of the last lap Newton & Ellen kept their lead and crossed the line\nin 1st<\/sup> place. Chris H managed to take 3rd<\/sup> place from Mike\nand in the only other change in order Rick came through with a late surge to\npass Alistair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The final order on the water was \u2013 1st<\/sup> Newton & Ellen; 2nd<\/sup> James; 3rd<\/sup> Chris H; 4th<\/sup> Mike Tr; 5th<\/sup> Karen; 6th<\/sup> Ralph<\/p>\n\n\n\n On corrected time the order changes to \u2013 1st<\/sup>\nChris H; 2nd<\/sup> Newton & Ellen; 3rd<\/sup> James; 4th<\/sup>\nMike Tr; 5th<\/sup> Karen; 6th<\/sup> Ron<\/p>\n\n\n\n Thanks\nto SOOD Julian B and the OOD Team, who will have to remain nameless as none of\ntheir names was recorded on the race sheet! <\/p>\n\n\n\n This\nwere the last races of the 2019 Spring Series, so congratulations to Ron\n(Mirror) for winning the Pursuit Series and to Chris (Comet) for winning the\nHandicap Series.\n\n\n\n\n\nbot<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" It was a light wind last Sunday and another light wind today about 5 mph coming from the NEish!
