About a minute later Dave &amp; Ann (Leader) crossed in 5<sup>th<\/sup>\nplace with Dean &amp; Nick (Vago) right on their transom and another minute\nelapsed before Ralph (Laser) came through. Then there was a close bunch consisting\nof Mike A (Lightning) followed by the Lasers of Paul H, Rick, Alistair S and\nJeremy and these lads enjoyed a good battle throughout the race. Ron (Mirror)\nwas not far behind and being chased by Sam in a Radial. Then there was a slight\ngap back to Emily (Topper) and Jemima and Ed in their Oppies and they also\nenjoyed a close battle for the whole of the race. Then bringing up the rear was\nBob (Solo) making his first appearance of the year and Dave P in his Mirror. &nbsp;Sally &amp; Stuart (Leader) made an early\nretirement before completing the first lap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the end of the second lap Karen still led but\nEllen had moved up to 2<sup>nd<\/sup> place with Mike T still 3<sup>rd<\/sup> and\nNewton was down to 4th. The next three boats held station, but Rick was up two\nplaces to 8<sup>th<\/sup> place. Further back Jemima had passed Sam and Emily to\nmove up to 14<sup>th<\/sup> spot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the finish Karen crossed the line in 1<sup>st<\/sup>\nplace with Mike T up one place to 2<sup>nd<\/sup> and Ellen a close 3<sup>rd<\/sup>.\nNewton, Dave &amp; Ann, Dean &amp; Nick and Ralph all maintained their positions,\nbut it was all change in the bunch behind as they struggled with the dodgy wind\naround No 7. Alistair S came up trumps and took the 8<sup>th<\/sup> spot from\nRick virtually on the line! Behind this group Sam caught and passed Ron and\nJemima with Emily finishing just ahead of Ed. &nbsp;Bob and Dave P both retired.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The finishing order on the water was \u2013<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1<sup>st<\/sup> Karen; 2<sup>nd<\/sup> Mike T; 3<sup>rd<\/sup>\nEllen; 4<sup>th<\/sup> Newton; 5<sup>th<\/sup> Dave &amp; Ann; 6<sup>th<\/sup>\nDean &amp; Nick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On corrected time this becomes \u2013 1<sup>st<\/sup>\nNewton; 2<sup>nd<\/sup> Karen; 3<sup>rd<\/sup> Jemima; 4<sup>th<\/sup> Mike T; 5<sup>th<\/sup>\nDave &amp; Ann; 6<sup>th<\/sup> Ellen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thanks to Chris Hilson and the OOD Team of Monica,\nJohn H, Mike C, Mike T Nigel and Rich F.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With a South wind about 12-14 mph, Chris H set the first mark as A (level with 2 but more into the middle of the lake) then 2, 9, 5, 6, 7 and back through the start.
