It is with great disappointment that we must announce that the club will be closed with immediate effect. The new national lockdown measures are clear that all leisure activities which take place on private land are to be closed. This encompasses all sailing activity, plus all non-essential site maintenance. You are not permitted to do any boat maintenance, nor to move your boats on or off the site.

We expect the situation to be reviewed by December 2nd, and will update you on any developments during the month.
During this period the committee is researching a number of web-based sailing activities that you might want to take part in as a substitute for sailing, or for improving your knowledge. Newton will be in touch regarding the Virtual Racing. The RYA have developed some excellent training videos.

You could even go to the other extreme and pilot a Vendee Globe virtual race, which starts from Les Sables d’Olonne at lunchtime next Sunday.

My ex-racing buddy Alex Thomson is competing for the fifth time on Hugo Boss, and is well placed to win. If he does, this would be the first time the race was not won by a Frenchman, so please give him lots of support. It’s no substitute for the real thing, of course, but please enjoy these alternative forms of sailing, and look forward to the time we can get back out on the water.

With kind regards
