Pirates 5th June

Wow what a mega turn out….anyone visiting the club last night was greeted by shrieks of laughter and the sight of 21 boats on the water with 40 youngsters having fun, closely supervised by 4 safety boats – thanks Dean for helping us out at the last minute.
Gary was in charge, putting the Pirates through their paces with short races…..inevitably some of the boats were blown into the trees but there was always someone on hand to assist.
Mums, Dads, Grannys and others were correctly attired in life jackets and wellies to help.
After everyone was safely off the water and enjoying warming hot chocolate, the capsizes were many in the gusty winds…..Dean, Sue, Ellie and Lucy tucked into fish and chips…….it was Lucy’s birthday!
Thanks to everyone who helped out, it was another great Pirate evening!!

RYA Training, 24th & 26th May

Despite the inclement weather all the 15 trainees coped very well, especially the youngsters, who all achieved Stage 1 and a substantial part of Stage 2 as well.
We all got wet several times over the 2 days, not just with capsizing, but everyone had a lot of fun! Hot soup and hot chocolate by the gallon were kindly made by Barbara and much appreciated.
Steve pitched in and helped us as well.
There are support boat practice sessions on the next 2 Saturdays for those going on to do the next stages in July.
