Reading Sailing Club

To err is human, to arr, pirate!

Welcome to the youth sailing part of the website. Due to popular request the Thursday night sailing sessions (Pirates Club) are starting on 28th June and will happen most Thursdays between then and mid September (depending on available light!).

The sailing fun and games start from 18:00, finishing around 20:00. For persons aged 8-20, though for those under 16 parents have to remain on-site and be responsible for their child(ren). There is no training in these sessions therefore a basic level of unsupervised sailing ability (RYA stage 1) is required. This will enable all people to enjoy the evening as it is all about having fun on the water- weather permitting.

Often families come down for the evening, bringing supplies for a picnic or bar-be-que making the evening into a family event with many games and laughter.

All volunteers to help supervise (join in) are welcome and needed. There is a safety boat out as soon as anyone is on the water, though this is primarily for the kids, not for opportunistic cruisers! Numbers of kids on the water will be restricted by the number of on the water helpers.
