Training 2010
The club will be continuing it's popular and successful training
scheme in 2010. To take part on any course you must be a member
of the club. All courses are priced at £75 for two Saturdays including
dinghy/buoyancy aid hire. This fee contributes to the upkeep of
the club's dinghy fleet and the cost of safety boat fuel.
The training is run by volunteers and is intended as a way of encouraging
new joiners to the club and giving you a way to start sailing.
The
club is an RYA approved teaching establishment having gained its
accreditation at the start of the 2006 season.

Beginners
24 April 2010 - Beginners / RYA Level 1
1 May 2010 - Beginners / RYA Level 1
Beginner's courses require no previous experience. We train in
either Toppers, a Pico, or Lasers using small sails, with your instructor
alongside you in a safety boat. Or sometimes, in a two man dinghy
with an instructor in the boat. In April the weather can be changeable
so bring some warm clothing an old pair of trainers that can get
wet and a change of clothes. If you have a wetsuit or sailing boots,
then even better.
Skills learnt: Sailing across the wind; turning through the wind
'Tacking'; Making progress towards the wind; sailing with the wind
behind you and turning the back of the boat through the wind 'Gybing'.
At the end of the course you should be able to sail a triangular
course around the lake.
Beginners and Intermediates
The remaining courses will accommodate beginners and intermediates
levels.
Beginners / RYA Level 1
Intermediates / RYA Level 2
22 / 29 May 2010
19 / 26 June 2010
17/ 24 July 2010
18 / 25 Sept 2010
Intermediates courses are suitable for those who either attended
our beginners course last year or have significant recent experience
of dinghy sailing. The course can either be run in your own boat
or in one of the club fleet.
Skills learnt: More efficient sailing '5 Essentials'; sailing in
stronger winds; close quarters manoeuvring around buoys/jetties
and sailing theory.
